Hello everyone and welcome to 2016! Between our New Year's purposes figure a little pampering our blog and update it :D, so first we bring a post about our last doll serie, "Four Seasons", which was completed in November 2015.
Hola a todos y bienvenido 2016! Entre los propósitos de año nuevo figura mimar un poco nuestro blog y ponerlo al día :D, así que para empezar les traemos nuestra última serie, "Cuatro Estaciones", que fué terminada en Noviembre del 2015.
Last year was so interesting and prolific as we could wish for and between all the doll projects started this one is special in the sense that all the dolls was treated at the same time with a specific theme and because each one has details that recall to our past works. Each doll we have done in these years is special and unique, with its own challenges from the technical and the creative point of view, and, somehow, each one left seeds on the road, which eventually sprout in the form of a new concept , an idea, a shape, a color.
Kesa belongs to a series of four related dolls, four sisters spirits of nature, each of which has its own personality and therefore are expressed in a range of colors and textures for their own. She is vibrant, warm and baroque, full of color and details, from deep red fruits, green foliage and velvet summer evening to the sumptuous sunshine. But in contrast with all her generosity, his burning eyes warn of the danger of getting too close to their light.
El pasado año fué tan interesante y prolífico como hubiéramos podido desear y entre todos los proyectos comenzados este es uno especial en el sentido de que se trabajaron todas las muñecas al mismo tiempo con un tema específico y también porque cada una de ellas posee detalles que remiten a nuestros trabajos pasados. Cada muñeca que hemos realizado en estos años es especial y única, con sus propios desafíos desde lo técnico y lo creativo, y , de alguna manera, cada una deja semillas en el camino, que tarde o temprano brotan en la forma de un nuevo concepto, una idea, una forma, un color.
Kesa pertenece a una serie de cuatro muñecas relacionadas, cuatro hermanas espíritu de la naturaleza, cada una de las cuales tiene su propia personalidad y por lo tanto la expresa en una gama de colores y texturas propias. The hair was done in mohair n a very intense red color, one of the most beautiful red for my taste I have accomplished to dye. The hair has natural waves but I stressed loops in the front of the head and the rest of the hair was raised up on the crown to a high hairstyle with a lot of fixative. Over the hairstyle, she wears a crown made of bronze wire and pieces of golden filigree embroidered with green, red and orange beads. The crown is secured with a ribbon behind.
El cabello se realizó en mohair de color rojo muy intenso, uno de los rojos más bonitos para mi gusto que he logrado teñir. El mohair tiene ondas naturales pero se acentuaron bucles en la parte de adelante de la cabeza y el resto del cabello se elevó sobre la coronilla en un peinado alto que se mantiene con bastante fijador. Con un pasador para enhebrar se insertaron las esferas doradas en el bucle.
Sobre el peinado luce una corona realizada con alambre de bronce y piezas de filigrana doradas, bordadas con mostacillas verdes, rojas y anaranjadas. La corona se sujeta con una cinta por detrás.

The lace has its own history, as it was originally blue, from a wedding dress, and was dyed to be used in our first artistic doll, Victoria, the same that was selected in 2010 to participate in a Hall of Small format Art of our city, Bahia Blanca. You can see this doll in one of our first albums in facebook and in our previous blog. Notice the similarity of the dress,victorian mermaid line, also with velvet on its bottom and that was also entirely hand embroidered. I had not used again the lace from that project until Kesa and I am more than satisfied with the result.
El vestido resulta bastante pesado al final, ya que está realizado sobre satén, con un encaje de flores de cinta recortado y aplicado a mano sobre el satén azul y la parte inferior con forma de corola que es de terciopelo azul petróleo muy profundo. Luego de sujeto con pequeñas puntadas invisibles se bordaron las hojas y flores con mostacillas y mostacillones, en verde, azul tornasolado, rojo y anaranjado, lo que le agrega gran parte del peso para su tamaño. El encaje tiene su historia particular, ya que era originalmente celeste, proveniente de un vestido de boda, y fué teñido para ser utilizado en nuestra primera muñeca artística, Victoria, misma que fué seleccionada en el año 2010 para participar en un Salón de Arte de Pequeño Formato de nuestra ciudad, Bahía Blanca. Pueden ver dicha muñeca en uno de nuestros primeros albumes de facebook y en nuestro blog anterior. Notaran la similitud del vestido, de línea sirena, victoriano, que también lleva terciopelo en su parte inferior y que fué también enteramente bordado a mano sobre los motivos. No había vuelto a utilizar este encaje desde aquel proyecto y me siento más que satisfecha con el resultado.
El vestido está forrado, lleva ojales bordados en la espalda y mostacillones a modo de botones y un bajo falda de gasa tornasol verde abullonada.
Algo curioso para mencionar, al menos para mí, es que en el inicio de este proyecto, teniendo en cuenta los materiales y la idea general, realicé unos pequeños bocetos acompañados de notas para definir cada diseño. Casi en el final del proyecto me dí cuenta de que esos pequeños bocetos, muy básicos, casi meros recordatorios, podían ser reinterpretados en otros diseños finales diferentes de estos, así que ahora se podría decir que las ideas se multiplicaron y ya hay nuevos proyectos de vestuario en proceso :3 Este es el boceto, como les dije, muy básico, no me gusta hacer dibujos muy definidos de los diseños, son más como notas recordatorias de lo que hay en mi cabeza, hago el boceto para definir la línea y volúmenes generales, y agrego anotaciones detallando los colores, telas y tipo de accesorios que quiero agregar, a veces agrego pequeñas muestras de tela, cintas o hilos, pero la mayoría de detalles se definen por sí solos durante el proceso siguiendo estos lineamientos establecidos.
The dress is fully lined, carrying embroidered eyelets on the back and glass beads as way of buttons and a low green iridescent chiffon puffed skirt .Something interesting to mention, at least for me, is that in the beginning of this project, taking into account the materials and the general idea, I made a few small sketches accompanied by notes to define each design. Almost at the end of the project I realized that these small sketches, very basic, almost mere reminders, could be reinterpreted in other different final designs, so now you could say that ideas are multiplied, and new costume projects can be in process : 3 This is the sketch, as I said, very basic, I do not like very definite drawings of the designs, they are more like reminders of what's in my head, I make the sketch to define the line and general volumes, and add annotations detailing the colors, fabrics and accessories that I want to add, sometimes add small samples of fabric, ribbons or threads, but most details are defined by themselves during the process following these guidelines established.
Y finalmente, la cereza del postre, los zapatos. También un estilo de calzado del que tenía la idea hacía tiempo pero como tantas cosas, permanecieron en una especie de limbo hasta que tuve oportunidad de llevarlos a cabo. Estos zapatos están realizados con filigranas doradas, modelados sobre un par de hormas miniatura que tengo preparadas para estos casos. Se requiere el uso de pinzas de punta pequeña, un par de tijeras para metal y paciencia y delicadeza, si se la dobla demasiadas veces la filigrana se rompe y si apretamos demasiado con las pinzas puede saltarse el dorado de la pieza.A modo de terminación y para proteger de roces el pie de la muñeca, la piezas se forraron con satén y terciopelo. Luego se bordaron los detalles de mostacilla en las piezas y se agregó una cinta para atar, realizada cortando por la mitad a lo largo una cinta de raso extrabebé 00 para que quedara de apenas un par de milímetros de ancho y que se selló a todo lo largo del borde con la llama.

As finishing touch and to protect it against chafing the feet of the doll, the pieces were lined with satin and velvet. Beaded details was then embroidered on the pieces and a ribbon to tie added, made by cutting in half along a satin ribbon 00 to make it just a couple of millimeters wide and was sealed along the edge with the flame.
Una anotación final sobre esta y muchas otras muñecas que hemos realizado, muchas veces nos han preguntado de donde salen tantas ideas y sólo hay una respuesta para eso: vienen trabajando. Y esto no es sólo algo que decimos por decir, es una mera comprobación de la realidad, que otros artistas, grandes ellos, ya habían una y mil veces advertido. Es natural que durante el proceso surjan mil y una ideas relacionadas a lo que estamos haciendo, además de las que naturalmente surgen de películas, arte, historia y libros. Muchas no verán nunca la luz, muchas otras serán plasmadas en cuadernos de notas.Y esta es una cosa que siempre recomiendo, cualquiera sea la clase de arte a la que se dediquen, siempre tengan papel y lápiz con ustedes y anoten TODO, pero TODO, lo que les venga a la cabeza. cuando llega ese momento tan temido por cualquier creativo de tener que enfrentar el famoso "lienzo en blanco", un vistazo a la libreta refrescará viejos sueños dormidos y nos dará la necesaria inspiración.

A final note on this and many other dolls we have made, we have often asked from where so many ideas came, and there is only an answer to that: they tend to occur when we are working. And this is not just something we say for say, is merely a reality check, other artists, great them, had already warnedus about it a thousand times. It is natural that during the process thousand and one ideas arise related to what we're doing, in addition to those taht naturally arise from movies, art, history and books. Many never see the light, many others will be reflected in notebooks and sketches. And this is one thing I always recommend, regardless of the kind of art you are dedicated to, always have paper and pen with you and write down everything, but everything , whatever comes into your head. When that dreaded time comes for any creative person of facing the famous "blank canvas", a peek into the notebook will bring out the old sleeping dreams, will refresh and give us the necessary inspiration.
