Hi everyone!  As you can see in my FB bio, these past weeks were vey busy ones! First, I want to announce that custom orders are temporarily suspended, more or less until September-November; besides the orders that I am finishig, there is also a lot of ongoing, secret projects that need their special time! So we are saving a pair of months after the current orders to
Malena Angelus, sold.
dedicate to them. But don't worry, we will still publishing new dolls from time to time, some of them will be available for middle June.  Those published in my FB are all already sold but you can also ask whatever you want to know about our dolls with confidence.
Little Sansa as Elf , sold.
Kyra and Jen, sold.
Porcelain heads on process, reserved

Besides the orders we are currently finishing, there are some suspended projects, that little by little were taking form, some of them related to the new line of china painted dolls. Since last year  I was practicing and experimenting with china paints, trying to sort all the unexpected issues they implies, lerning about their nature and  character , and
overcoming some unfortunate incidents.  Like this girl, for example:
China paints over Seeley Indian flesh porcelain.

I am very proud of her! She is made with Seeley porcelain, which is an amazing porcelain but a little temperamental at the time of the firing  I must say; some of the pieces were casted and fired twice because I overfired her the first time I put her into the kiln. But new porcelains are tricky and I know that those things happens, so I tested them all the times they needed to prior to make her,and even then the moment to open the kiln is a cross your fingers one.
And now that she is painted and almost finished, well... A  leg gets broken T-T and now she needs another new piece :/  She is in a box since February and will need to wait a little more :/

Not only new porcelains are capricious like little kids, also china paints. They are very transparent, and need many layers, with fires in between, to set and acchieve all their brightness and deepness. But they tend to fade in the firing , some of them too much more than others! China painting requires more extensive tests also, more than porcelains. And patience and a very steady hand.  My respects for all the incredible artists that employ them.  This is an example of how the colors fade:
Mermaid tail on process plus testing piece.
At the left, a piece with fresh strokes and stains, at the right, a piece that has a layer already fired; yellow and red fade quite a lot, they must be cadmiuns, based on their behavior. I like this pale tone anyway so I begin to paint the blue details. A fortunate accident! I will see at the end if I add more layers of yellow and red, depending on how she turn after all the remaining firings.
She is one of the mermaids sculpted last year.
Porcelain mermaid on process, china paints over non translucent porcelain.
Inside the kiln:

Hell at the kiln.
A view of some other girls, not Seeley, but a new white one, also a headache but it is such a beautiful porcelain, so translucent and delicate!
China paint samples, Seeley porcelain doll and translucent white porcelain dolls on process prior to firing.

I hope you like these new projects as I do, I love challenges, and this one is a long time posponed one; they are still in their boxes, unfinished; but they are patience an will wait, until the moment to continue comes. So if after my current orders it looks like we disappear for a time , don't worry! It is becuase we are working very much to bring more beauty and joy to you :D!

Please take care and care your dear beings in this strange, surreal times! Sun is just around the corner :)
